Awareness programme on fruit drop, apple disease held by KVK Shopian at Kralchack

Srinagar: A day long awareness programme on “ Fruit drop, Alternaria leaf blotch, Necrotic leaf bloth and their remedial measures” was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Kralchack village of subdivision Keller district Shopian for progressive farmers of the area.
The programme was organized in view of current problems being faced by the orchardists these days due to sudden rise in temperature after heavy rainfall spell. The programme was attended by Director Extension Education, SKUAST- Kashmir, Professor Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Senior Extension Specialist Dr Irfan Ahmad Bisati, Senior Scientist and Head KVK Shopian Dr Zaffar Afroz Badri, Scientists of the Kendra, and about 50 progressive orchardists of the locality.
At the outset of the event Dr. Bilal Ahmad Pandit, Scientist Horticulture, welcomed formally the participants and appraised them for sparing their valuable time for this important event. The Senior Scientist and Head KVK Dr Zaffar Afroz Badri threadbare discussed the symptoms, causes and preventive measure to manage the necrotic leaf Blotch and alternaria Leaf Blotch issues.
Later on Dr Bilal Ahmad Pandit Scientist Horticulture, discussed in detail the different fruit drop stages their reasons and remedial measures to minimize this drop to a considerable extent. At last Worthy Director Extension SKUAST-Kashmir, Professor Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi highlighted the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in upliftment of farming community and mandatory activities carried out by the Kendra for economic prosperity of farming community.
The Director Extension Education has focused on the need to adopt the integrated farming approach to get the assured dividends from all allied sectors under single umbrella.
He has emphasized on adoption of latest technologies to reduce the cost of cultivation, enhance the cost of production through value addition of the surplus produce. The visionary Director has appreciated the role of Kendra in reaching to unreached for better future prospectus of the district. Moreover, worthy Director has assured educated rural youth to be ready for capsule courses so as to earn the livelihood and prove your talent in successful entrepreneurs in value addition and training, pruning, budding and grafting skills. At the end, Dr Shaiq Ahmad Ganai Scientist PHT, formally presented vote of thanks to the dignitaries and participants.
