7 day NAHEP sponsored training concludes

Srinagar: A Seven days National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) sponsored training concluded at Faculty of Agriculture (FOA), SKUAST-K, Wadura.
A NAHEP sponsored training programme was organised by Mountain Research Centre for Field Crops (MRCFC), SKUAST- Kashmir at FOA, Wadura on Skilling Students in Production and Protection Technology of Field Crops from 20-27, June 2022 for PG students.
The training was organised with the twin objective of revising the basics and introducing the latest state of art in Plant Breeding, Agronomy and Plant Protection of field crops particularly rice, wheat, maize, rapeseed and pulses to the PG students of the Faculty. In the valedictory session of the training programme Prof. Sarfaraz A. Wani, Director Research SKAUST-Kashmir impressed upon the students to strengthen their basic knowledge and improve upon the analytical skills for smooth conduct of advanced research in different disciplines. Prof. Raihana Habib Kant, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura highlighted the importance of practical skills in professional education, research and the need to seek employment. She advised the students to continuously upgrade and update their skills commensurate with the fast changing technology and instrumentation. Prof. Azmat Aalam OSD and Co-PI NAHEP impressed upon the organisers and participants to continue the practical and skill oriented training courses in future. Prof. Najeeb R. Sofi, Associate Director Research, MRCFC, highlighted the
importance of all research centres particularly MRCFC, Khudwani in terms of research and development made in rice and rapeseed crops. Prof. Ashaq Hussain, Course Director presented a detailed report of the training and the results of the pre- and post evaluation tests.
A comprehensive training manual was released on the occasion. Three meritorious students were felicitated and certification of participation was distributed among 50 participants by worthy Director Research SKAUST-K.
