CUK’s Business school holds food cum entertainment fest

Ganderbal: The students of the Department of Management Studies including B.Voc in Retail and Logistics Management, School of Business Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a food cum entertainment festival “The Art Day,” at varsity’s Green Campus here Tuesday.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, Head Department of Management Studies, Prof. Abdul Gani, faculty members, senior administrative functionaries, research scholars were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah hailed and congratulated the department for organising such a mega fest. He said the primary objective in organising the festival is to give exposure to the students, adding the students have participated with great enthusiasm and zest.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, said the events like these give a chance to the students to showcase their hidden talent. “These events provide a huge opportunity to budding entrepreneurs to reach out to masses and motivates them to take entrepreneurship as a career,” he said, adding the event was managed exclusively by the students. Prof. Zargar said that such events, showcasing the art, culture, music and heritage of the Jammu and Kashmir, would be conducted regularly in future.
Speaking on the occasion, Head Department of Management Studies, Prof. Abdul Gani said, as many as 25 stalls of food, craft, calligraphy, readymade garments, fine arts, games and music, were installed and the event provided a platform to the students to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.
Addressing the gathering, Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, said, the department of Management Studies has been making strenuous efforts to groom the future business leaders, who after graduating, would contribute towards the socio-economic growth and development of the Jammu and Kashmir.
Gurukul winner and singer Mr. Qazi Tauqeer also enthused the students by singing some bollywood numbers. The event was also sponsored by Tata Motors, Fairdeal, HDFC Bank Ganderbal and Amul.
An independent jury was framed for identifying the best two stalls in food and craft. The first prize in food was bagged by “Sweet Frosting Box” hosted by Ms Rutba Posh while as first prize in craft was bagged by “Minimalistic Sketch” hosted by Ms. Mantasha Qazi and Ms. Zarakshan.
