Gurez: The first Scientific Advisory Committee meeting to frame the annual action Plan was held at Dak Bungalow, Dawar-Gurez.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora-II (Gurez) conducted its 1st Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting at Dak Bungalow, Gurez here in presence of Hon,ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahamad Ganie and Director Extension SKUAST-K Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, SDM Gurez Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Wani SDAO-Gurez. BVO-Gurez SDO-Gurez. FDA-Gurez Range Officer-Gurez, I/C Horticulture-Gurez. ,I/C Sericulture-Gurez.,Manager J&K Bank-Dawar, Gurez. And Manager J&K Grameen Bank,Gurez,attended the meting.Dr. Bilal AhamadBhat,Programme Co-ordinator KVK Bandipora-II (Gurez) presented a detailed action plan for the year 2022-23.SDM present on the occasion assured his full support and help to KVK and MAR&ES-Gurez.
The Vice Chancellor stressed upon the need to prioritise the areas of food and nutritional security and economic security of tribal people of the valley, Director Extension took the feedback of all the line departments for identification of area based, farmer oriented problems of this far flung for reflecting those demand driven issues in to the annual action plan of the KVK Bandipora II (Gurez) keeping in the demand driven issues related to post harvest management of potato, low renumerative values of sheep to the farmers need of skill upgradation training of rural youth with regard to value addition, vegetable preservation, sericulture, mushroom cultivation and some other cash crop related issues. He was assured full cooperation by HVC and Director extension in playing his role for solving problems related to Agriculture & animal husbandry of the area. The University officers earlier a day before addressed a huge gathering of the famers, farm women and rural youth and provided on spot solutions of various problems posed by them.The officers expressed deep concern over the harvesting of Kala Zeera in infancy stage and cautioned the farmers about the ill effects & possible extinction of this important niche crop of the valley and stressed that this practice may be discontinued with immediate effect to facilitate dispersal of the seeds which will flourish this crop & possibly help in bringing more area under Kala Zeera.
A dedicated innovative farm women namely Khatija Begum was honoured & awarded by MAR&ES Gurez at the hands of HVC & Director Extension.All the farmers present were inspired by her innovative agriculture practice.On the occasion Colonel Rajesh Kumar from RVC assured full cooperation with regard to conducting veterinary clinical camps, helping marketing of agricultural produce and bringing to the area the resource person for identifying the unexplored medicinal and aromatic plants to help the local people taking it as entrepreneurship that can boost their economy. Director Extension put forth some solutions by assuring training programmes in these areas and linking the farmers to the market especially with the security forces deployed in area.
