GDC Pulwama conducts annual road race

SRINAGAR: Government Degree College, Pulwama held its annual road race 21st May from Murran Chowk to Kakapora Pulwama.
Around 90 students participated in the race. Suhail Ahmad student of 2nd Semester secured the first position reaching the finish line ahead of all. Zubair Yousuf student of 5th Semester and Abdul Waheed student of 2nd Semester secured the second and third positions respectively.
The race was flagged off by the Principal of the college Prof. Farooq A. Andrabi, Prof. G. M. Nengroo (HoD Chemistry), Convener Sports Board and SHO Pulwama in the wee hours at 5:00 am from Murran Chowk.
The District Administration, District Police Lines Pulwama, Dept. of Health Services Pulwama, Traffic Police Dept Pulwama, and SHO Kakapora assisted the college in holding the event successfully.
A brief award distribution ceremony was held in the sports ground of the college in which all the atheletes, staff of the college and other collaborating agencies participated. The Principal appreciated the atheletes for showing exemplary valour in running the race despite the incessant rains. He thanked all the collaborating agencies for helping the college in holding the event successfully. The efforts of the entire staff of the college were also acknowledged. The top ten position holders were given medals while as the first three position holders were awarded medals and trophies. Prof. M. Showkat Ali, HoD Dept. of English, Language and Literature (DELL) conducted the proceedings of the function.
