Srinagar: Police in Budgam have seized illicit timber at Rathsun crossing area of Budgam and arrested 02 persons involved in the commission of crime.
Police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Rathsun crossing intercepted a vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing registration number JK13E-8766. During checking, 39 logs of illegal timber was found in the vehicle. Two smugglers on board were arrested on spot who have been identified as Siraj-u-Din Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat & Sajad Ahmed Bhat son of Sona-ullah Bhat both residents of Rathsun Beerwah. They have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody & vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 56/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been taken up.
Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
