Thana Divas observed in Pampore, Bandipora

SRINAGAR: Local residents of Saffron Town Pampore and adjoining areas raised various public issues including drug menace, Sumo Service from Pampore to Srinagar via Athwajan during Police Thana Diwas meeting which was chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf along with SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad and SHO Pampore Adil Ashraf held at police station Pampore area of police district Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
As a part of J&K government’s public outreach programme, Police in Pampore organised a “Thana Diwas” at Police Station Pampore.
The event was chaired by SSP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf accompanied by SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad, SHO Police Station Adil Ashraf, SI Muneer Ahmad.
The meeting was attended by BDC Chairman Pampore Mir Altaf, DDC Tazima Akhtar, Imams, Auqaf Committee, numberdars, members of civil societies, members of market/shopkeepers association, respectables, Chowkidars and respectables, besides people from different walks of life also participated in the meeting, police officer told Kashmir Reader.
During the meeting, the participants hailed SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad and SHO Pampore Adil Ashraf before SSP Awantipora for cracking a whip against drug mafia in Pampore area.
Police vowed to carry forward the mission to check drug peddling in the area.
The participants also raised various issues of public importance of the Saffron Town Pampore and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, Bandipora police today observed ‘Thana Divas’ across the district.The event was organized at all Police Stations of the district, chaired by respective jurisdictional police officers.
At Police Station Bandipora, the meeting was chaired by SSP Bandipora Shri Mohmad Zahid-JKPS.DYSP HQRS Bandipora Mohmad Shafat -JKPS & SHO PS Bpr were also present on the occasion,at police station Hajin the meeting was chaired by DYSP Hajin Lateef Ahmad -JKPS, at Gurez By SDPO Gurez Shri Bashir Ahmad-JKPS.
The meetings were attended by Sarpanchs, Panchs, respectable citizens ,civil societies of concerned areas, including members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars,Traders Federation and Transporters.
During the meetings, participants highlighted various issues of public importance, and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal. While speaking on the occasions, it was reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Divas, is improve efficiency,transparency and accountability in policing at grassroot level and to hear and redress grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
The participants were also stressed to co-operate with Bandipora Police identifying anti national and anti social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. The participants appreciated the role of police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boosts community policing and public confidence.
