ANANTNAG: In continuation to District Administration Anantnag’s initiative of holding series of interaction sessions cum awareness seminars in various educational institutions in the district, the District Information Centre (DIC) Anantnag and Dept of Employment, Anantnag in collaboration with Shining Star innovation club today organized two seminars at GMHS Boys Bijbehara and GHSS Bijbehara.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla said that the innovation and startup landscape in India is progressing at a rapid pace. He said that there are several examples of innovators whose ideas have helped solve everyday problems for the common man.
He said to inculcate awareness and generate interest among the youth about innovation and spread awareness regarding various govt schemes in place to facilitate entrepreneurial ventures, a series of sessions are being organized in various institutions in Anantnag.
One seminar each was held at GMHS Bijbehara and GHSS Bijbehara in which more than 120 students participated. The theme was Innovation and Entrepreneurship – Emerging Opportunities. The speakers included Qayoom Naik who is a well-known serial innovator from Anantnag, District Information Officer Anantnag and Counseling Officer from Dept of Employment Anantnag.
Qayoom Naik, who has many innovations to his name, ran the participants through his journey and the challenges he tackled. He gave a detailed overview of the Automatic seed sowing machine and portable apple grading machine that he has developed.
District Information Officer and Counselling Officer gave the students a brief about the various govt schemes in vogue like PMEGP, Tejaswini, ODOP, etc through which interested applicants can set up their own business units and generate employment.
An interaction session was held at both locations with various students sharing their ideas and soliciting details regarding the schemes like eligibility, quantum of finance, etc.
The sessions were attended by Principals of the schools, staff and students among others.
