OBG Dept of LD organises CME on Endocrinological Disorders in Women

Srinagar: Postgraduate Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG), Lal Ded Hospital held one day Continued Medical Education (CME) program on “Updates on Endocrinological Disorders in Obstetrics and Gynaecology,” at Govt Medical College, Srinagar on Saturday. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Principal/Dean, GMC Srinagar Prof. Samia Rashid and the Guests of Honour were Prof. Abdul Hamid Zargar, World renowned Endocrinologist and Prof Tanveer Masood, HOD Medicine GMC Srinagar.
Prof Rizwana Habib HOD Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology delivered the welcome address.
Speaking on the occasion Prof Samia Rashid, Principal GMC Sgr said that there is need for generating awareness about lifestyle diseases and their adverse effects on the healthcare systems. Prof AH Zargar deliberated in depth about the evolution of lifestyle diseases, causes and the current statistics worldwide and in Kashmir.
Prof Rizwan Habib HOD OBG said that endocrinological disorders like Gestational Diabetes, Thyroid Disorders and PCOS are becoming alarmingly common in women and there is an urgent need to address this problem. Renowned experts of the Valley, including Prof Syed Masuma Rizvi, Dr Hayat Bhat, Dr Nazir Palla, Dr Shahnawaz Mir, Dr Khursheed Bhat, Dr Sabahat Rasool, Dr Parveen Fareed delivered lectures and presentations on the topic. The conference was attended by Faculty of GMCs, Post Graduate & Undergraduate students of GMC and other Medical Colleges.
