DARS, SKUAST-K conducts Farmers Field Day on Pulse Crops

SRINAGAR: Dryland Agriculture Research Station, SKUAST –Kashmir under Pulse Seed Hub project conducted a Farmers Field Day in which around 20 farmers of District Budgam participated.
Dr. Ajaz Ahmad (Incharge AICRP Pulses) welcomed the farmers and gave a brief insight about pulse scenario of the valley. The farmers were given hands-on information about scientific cultivation of Kharif Pulses together with management of these crops against major insects and pests.
Dr. Z. A. Dar (Head, DARS Rangreth) while addressing the farmers spoked about the role of the Station in development of new and improved pulse, maize and fodder crop varieties for the overall benefit of the farming community. Dr. Mehfuza Habib, Senior Scientist educated the farmers about role of pulses in dietary and nutrition of humans.
The farmers expressed happiness for conducting such type of trainings and desired to participate in more such programmes in future and also provided feedback regarding their challenges in their existing agricultural practices.
During the programme, token seed of Soybean and Cowpea was distributed among the farmers.
