Srinagar: SKUAST-Kashmir Innovation, Incubation& Entrepreneurship (SKIIE) Centre
entered into an MOU with AWaDH– Agriculture & Water Technology Development Hub,Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar. Dr.Haroon Naik Director P&M signed the MOU on behalf of SKUAST-Kashmir and Dr.Pushpinder Singh Co-ordinator, Research & Developmentsigned on behalf of IIT Ropar.
The MoUwas signed for mutual cooperation on land resources and farm/orchard preparation; Agriculture automation and precision farming with focus on Apple and other fruit crops, Saffron, Rice and vegetable crops; Food Processing Technologies; IT and IT enabled services; Agribusiness marketplace; Internet of Things (IoT) systems in the domain of Agriculture, Horticulture & Water; Bioenergy and Biomaterials; IPR and Patents ;Incubation and Innovation for start-ups. MoU was signed in presence of Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai,Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir along with Directors, Deansand other officers of University.
Prof. Nazir Ahmad GanaiHon’ble Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmirhighlighted the importance of an alliance between the SKUAST-Kashmir and one of the leading Institutions of the country (IIT Ropar)to enable quality research, and building of better infrastructure within the University. He said that signing of such MoUs will help us in bringing technology to Agriculture and therby attract youth to Agriculture.
Dr.Pushpinder Singh, Coordinator, IIT Ropar in his address expressed his willingness for joint research/academic programmes, joint supervision of PhD students, sharing of Lab facilities for the students; Promotion of entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity; Internship of Agri. Engineering Students and Food Technology Students at IIT Ropar and Exchange of faculty and students between IIT Ropar and SKUAST-K etc.
