Program held to celebrate PMGKY in Pampore

Pampore: Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs(FCS&CA) Department Pulwama organised a day long programme to celebrate Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna (PMGKY) under 75th Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Townhall Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.
Tehsil Supplier Officer Pampore Ayash Farooq and BDC Chairman Mir Altaf Ahmad highlighted the achievements of the schemes of the government of India.
The event was attended by officials of FCS&CA, Storekeepers and a number of beneficiaries from Tehsil Pampore.
“The programme was organised to celebrate the PMGKY under which 5 kilograms of rice per soul is given free of cost by government through FCS &CA per month.
The government has extended PMGKY till December 2022. The people who get benefited from the scheme are happy with the extension” TSO Pampore Ayash Farooq told Kashmir Reader.
He said that they have instructed storekeepers for strict compliance of the scheme so that poor residents don’t suffer.
He also praised the government for launching this people friendly scheme.
“We are thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who launched this scheme in March 2020 in view of COVID 19 and was extended from time to time.
At present poor residents benefit from the scheme.
This scheme was launched to ensure 5 kilograms of free rice per person a month for poor residents whose earning was hit by COVID,” BDC Chairperson Pampore, Mir Altaf told Kashmir Reader.
