Director Agriculture Kashmir visits Organic vegetable cluster Maloora

Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited Organic Vegetable Clusters Maloora Tengpora of Zone Qamarwari Srinagar.
He monitored different Agriculture activities undergoing in the fields. Director Agriculture held interaction with the farmers. Speaking on the occasion Director Agriculture reiterated the department’s commitment to provide every possible support (technical guidance, better marketing facilities) to the farmers.
Iqbal highlighted the economic importance of the organic vegetable cultivation for the region. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the farmers and the department in making the export of vegetables (from Kashmir to international destinations like Sharjah, Dubai) a dream come true. It is an unprecedented move and has opened a global window for the Agriculture produce from Kashmir.
Director Agriculture asked the farmers to diversify their operations. He marked the importance of introducing high yielding, exotic vegetables in their fields for more and better marketing opportunities.
Director Agriculture impressed upon the concern Officers/ Officials to ensure that the latest technical interventions, education, guidance is imparted to the farming community so that they could face and overcome the challenges raised by the global climate change, economic scenario.
Earlier Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar Mohammad Younis Chowdhary informed the Director regarding the detailed blue print marketing facilities to the farmers at their door steps. He informed the Director with respect to the different Agriculture interventions for the promotion of Organic vegetable cultivation in the district Srinagar.
During the visit Director Agriculture was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar Mohammad Younis Chowdhary, Agriculture Information officer Sheikh Imran, District Agriculture Officer Extension Gulzar Ahmad, Agriculture Extension Officer Qamarwari Dr. Fayaz and other concerned officers of the district.
