Two drug peddler arrested by police with 5 Kg poppy straw in Pampore

PAMPORE: Police have arrested two more drug peddlers in Saffron Town Pampore area of police district Awantipora on Sunday.
Acting on information, Police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO Pampore Adil Ashraf placed a special naka at Dooninad Crossing area of Tulbagh and arrested two drug peddler identified as Yawar Bashir Mir @ Gunja son of Bashir Ahmad Mir, resident of Namblabal Pampore and Tariq Ahmad Sheikh @ Patanjali Tiger son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, resident of Tulbagh Pampore, police officer told Kashmir Reader.
The arrested two persons were moving in suspicious circumstances at Dooninad Crossing and during search 05 Kgs of Poppy Straw carrying in Nylon Bag was recovered from the possession of the arrested persons.
A Case FIR Number 32/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered at Police Station Pampore.
SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that the drive against drug peddlers will continue till the town is cleared off from the menace.
He appealed civil society members and other residents to co-operate with the police in curbing this menace.
He said that most of the drudded drug-peddlers have been arrested and that none dealing in drug peddling will be spared.
