Srinagar: An awareness cum plantation drive was organized by Division of Silviculture & Agroforestry, Faculty of Forestry Benhama, Ganderbal (SKUAST-K), in Collaboration with Rahim Greens.
Students from Green Valley Educational Institute Srinagar. Prof. S.A.Gangoo,Dean Faculty of Forestry SKUAST-K was Chief Guest at the event.In the inaugural speech, Head of Division SAF, welcomed the guests and students and gave them brief introduction about the activities and other programs in the Faculty of Forestry as per its academic calendar.Dr.Javeed Ahmad Mugloo Senior Scientist Division of SAF gave the brief about Socioeconomics and ecosystem services of different broadleaved and conifer species and their importance in human life.
Besides the students were apprised about the academic activities being carried out at Faculty of Forestry for getting them interested in the courses being taught. Prof.S.A.Gangooin his speech highlighted the importance of forestry and emphasised upon the conservation of forests and also stressed upon to inculcate the sense of environment friendly approach among the students.The students also spoke on the topic World Forestry Day, Climate Change and actively participated in the event.
The program was concluded with the planting of deodar/Kail/Cyptomeriaseedlings in the degraded area of the Forestry Campus Benhama.
