AAC grieved over horrific fire at Zaina Kadal market

Delegation meets victims, observes damages

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) has expressed grave concern over the devastation of at least a dozen shops and property worth crores of rupees as a result of a horrific fire at Gadyar Bazaar in Zaina Kadal, a historical and commercial centre of Shahar-e-Khaas Srinagar. It however expressed satisfaction over the safety of the ancient historical Masjid Sharif Gadyar in the area.
The AAC expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims of the tragedy on behalf of the organisation and its incarcerated head Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq.
The statement said that on the direction of the Mirwaiz, a high-level delegation of the AAC visited Zaina Kadal to review the situation on the spot. The delegation along with the officials of the local organisational unit observed the damages and also met the victims. It also expressed sympathy with the victims on behalf of the leadership, especially Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
The Awami Action Committee called for immediate restoration of the market and all possible assistance to the victims and said that in view of the current unfavorable and serious situation, immediate assistance to the victims was urgently needed so that they could resume their normal business activities and be able to support their families.
