Rs 4004.44 cr disbursed among 84,526 beneficiaries

DC Srinagar chairs DLRC meet; asks Banks to establish Public Help Desk in every branch

SRINAGAR: To evaluate the progress achieved under Annual District Credit Plan of Srinagar district for financial year 2021-22, a meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) was today held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz Asad at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex, here.
The meeting was informed that credit to the tune of Rs 4004.44 Crore has been disbursed among 84526 beneficiaries of Srinagar district by different financial institutions under priority and non-priority sectors by quarter ended December, 2021 against the target of 6574.39 crore for 145792 beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on all the line departments and Banks operating in the district to improve the IEC activities to educate and sensitize the people about financial literacy about different banking products and Government sponsored schemes particularly in rural and urban belts of Srinagar so that they can avail the benefits of such schemes by setting up income generating units.
He also stressed on enhancement in the overall credit flow of banks in the district which is essential for financial impetus and improving income levels and thereby help in raising standard of living of people.
The DC also asked Banks and all line departments to encourage novice entrepreneurs under economic activities to inspire them for setting up viable income generating units in the district. He called upon officers to work in unison with added vigour and zeal and set realistic targets so that desired results are achieved to make the Srinagar district a model for development. He also advised the representatives of financial institutions and sponsoring agencies to come forward and help the unemployed youth of the capital for eradicating poverty, unemployment and reaching out to the poorest of the poor.
Emphasising on enhancing the coverage under Atal Pension Yojna by involving all stakeholders , the DC asked the Banks to launch a mass awareness campaign for effective implementation of the scheme so that benefit of the scheme reaches to the last beneficiary of the district.
While expressing his satisfaction over the performance of J&K Bank regarding achievements of targets, the DDC urged the other banks to improve the performance to touch the targets.
The DC asked all the Banks operating in the district to ensure Facilitation Counters/Customer Help Desks in every branch of their respective Banks for the convenience of the customers so that they are provided timely updates/status about their cases.
The meeting also held threadbare deliberations on bank wise progress in lending to priority sector/non priority sector under Annual Credit Plan as of quarter ended December 2021. Besides achievements made under other Government sponsored schemes including JKREGP, NRLM, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and enrolment under Social Security Schemes.
Giving overview of credit disbursement through different schemes, the Lead District Bank Manager, Abdul Majid informed the meeting that credit disbursement of Rs 6.45 crore has been provided to 99 beneficiaries of Srinagar District under MUMKIN scheme.
Under the PMEGP scheme, a total 2452 cases have been sponsored out of which 2020 cases have been processed with sanction of 1446 cases. Out of 1446 sanctioned cases Rs 38.96 crore have been disbursed among 1049 beneficiaries so far.
Similarly, under Pradhan Mantri SVANIDHI schemes Rs 4.79 crore were disbursed among 4800 registered street vendors in the district under which Urban Street Vendors are eligible to avail a loan of Rs 10000 with tenure of one year with interest subsidy of 7 percent for handholding of youth.
Under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, an amount to the tune of Rs 487.13 crore has been disbursed among 16300 beneficiaries.
On the occasion, the DC also launched Rs 3243 crore Potential Linked Plan (PLP) 2022-23 of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for Srinagar District which shall act as a guiding document to the Bankers for optimal utilization of Credit for development.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Faz lul Haseeb, the meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Lead District Officer, RBI, Lead District Manager Srinagar, DDM NABARD, and Officers from, UDAK, Employment, Handicrafts, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and other officers of concerned Departments, besides, senior officers of J&K Bank, SBI, PNB, HDFC and other sponsoring agencies operating in Srinagar.
