Workshop on research methodology begins at SKUAST-K

Srinagar: A seven-day remedial workshop on ‘Research Methodology and Entrepreneurship Development’ commenced at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir main campus Shalimar.
The workshop was organised by the Faculty of Horticulture and School of Agricultural Economics & Business Management in collaboration with the World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional development of SKUAST-K.
Dean Student Welfare. SKUAST-K, Prof MAA Siddique, who was the chief guest of the occasion, provided real-life examples of various successful agri-based entrepreneurs. He stressed understanding the rich available resource base of Jammu and Kashmir and also encouraged students to start their ventures involving innovative ideas in the field of agricultural/horticulture entrepreneurship. Director Planning and Monitoring, Prof Haroon Rashid Naik highlighted the consistent progression of the University in developing the various agri-based start-ups under its Sher-e-Kashmir Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (SKIIE) Center. He also emphasized the need for developing entrepreneurship and briefed about the financing of entrepreneurial ideas under SKIIE.
Dean Faculty of Horticulture Prof Shabir Ahmad Wani advocated the significance of research methodology and entrepreneurship development in the academic journey of a student. He emphasized students to pursue agriculture-based entrepreneurship and create employment for others. Head, School of Agricultural Economics and Horti-Business Management in his inaugural address emphasized on development of scientific temperament among the students that favour systematic and out-come based research. He stressed changing student mindset for entrepreneurship based on the locally available resource base.
The coordinator of the workshop, Dr Abid Sultan, briefed about the significance of remedial workshops in bridging the knowledge gap in the contemporary academic scenario.
The workshop was also attended by various industry people, including Founder & Owner of Hyacinth Agro, Shahjahan Kham; Founder & Owner of Parsa’s Food Chain, Javid Parsa; and Environmental Lawyer Nadeem Qadri, who spoke about entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainable business and preservation of the ecosystem.
