SKUAST-K organized awareness cum seed distribution programme under Tribal Sub Plan

SRINAGAR: An awareness cum seed distribution programme under TSP Soyabean was organized byDrylanAgriculureResearch StationBudgam, SKUAST-K, in collaboration with KVK Kulgam under thechairmanship of worthy Director Extension SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof.Dil Mohammed Makhdoomi. Director Education, SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof.MohdNisar Khan and expert of soyabeen graced the programme. Dr.SherAhmad DarProfessor Incharge AICRP (Soyabean) DARS, SKUAST-K, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Kulgam, Dr.Tasneem Mubarak along with his team of scientists. , Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam, District Agriculture Officer Kulgam, representative Scientist from MRCFC Khudwaniand 25 Tribal famers participated in the programme. Dr Tasneem Mubarak, Sr. Scientist &Head welcomed the participants and Prof.sher Ahmad Dar presented overview of the programme. Speaking on the occasion Prof.MohdNisar Khan, Director Education, SKUAST-Kashmir highlighted the nutritional value of soybean and its importance in agriculture.Prof.Dil Mohammed Makhdoomi Chief Guest on the occasion stressed upon the need for crop change in order to improve the soil health and increase the soil fertility. He gave thefarmers the salient objectives for soyabeen being a crop of choice. As it can be used milk, tofu (cheese), oil besides the protein rich fodder. He conveyed the value addition in soyabean.
He further inspired the farmers by showing success stories of some farmers in agriculture and allied related to organic farming fit for their location. Prof M. N Khan soyabeen expert gave the narrative of soyabeen crop with nutritional value and its replacement in feed industry. District Agriculture Officer and Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam, gave the details of GovtAgriculture related schemes and asked the tribal farmers to avail the facility particularly tractor procurement at 4% interest. In the event some tribal farmers spoke on the occasion and thanked KVK Kulgam for support.The soyabean seed and implement kits were distributed among the tribal farmersby the chief guest.
