Poultry farm sealed at Pampore for violating govt approved rates

PAMPORE: The Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department sealed a Poultry farm during a raid for violating government approved rates at Saffron Town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
After reports of black marketing and profiteering, the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department team led by Tehsil Supply Officer Pampore Ayash Farooq raided poultry farms in many places in the Pampore area.
During the raids Tehsil Supply Officer Ayash Farooq sealed one poultry farm wholesaler at Frestabal Pampore, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The team also recovered fine from the various violators.“We had received complaints from locals about poultry TSO Pampore sealed Poultry farm during raids at Pampore for violating govt approved rates, fined realised from violators farm dealer selling chicken 157 per kilogram to retailers. We carried out raids in many poultry farms and found a one poultry farm violating government fixed rates.”
The government has fixed the rate of chicken at Rs 120 per kilogram but the dealers were violating the government rates and retailers selling the 157 per kilogram.,” TSO Pampore Ayash Farooq told Kashmir Reader, adding that on enquiring it was found that the poultry farm owner were selling them at Rs 157 per kilogram that had resulted in surge of retail prices in the Saffron town.
He told Kashmir Reader that the farm has been sealed and legal action would follow against the violators.
The market checking was also conducted in the Pampore area in order to maintain rates as per government orders.
