SRINAGAR: Two Seven days Skill developmenttraining Programmes on Agricultural Machinery Repair and Maintenance and Tractor Operation and Maintenance was initiated by Director Extension,SKUAST-K Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi.
The programme is being organized by College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology under Skill Training for rural youth in association with SAMETI, SKUAST-K and MANAGE, Hyderabad. Thirty rural educated youth are part of these training programmes. The training are intended to train the rural youth in repair and maintenance of agricultural machines and tractors in order to improve their employment opportunities.
Prof Makhdoomi who was the chief guest of the inaugural session,in his remark talked about importance of repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery for improving the mechanization potential of the region. He assured the participants of providing best learning platform during the conduct of these training programmes. Prof Makhdoomi highlighted the various training programmes under STRY programme are being conducted under Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K. He appreciated the efforts of teaching and non-teaching staff for conducting such type of training programmes.
Prof R. Kumar Assoc Dean CoAE&T while welcoming the guests acknowledged that through such training programmes rural youth can align themselves in setting up agricultural machinery repair and maintenance units and earn livelihood. He assured trainees that all technical support for successful completion of their training.
Prof J. Dixit HoD, Division of Farm machinery and Power Engineering while elaborating the training schedule stated that participants will be trained in different aspects of operation, repair and maintenance of farm machines and tractors. The trainees will also be acquainted with tractor operation, familiarization with various systems of tractors and its scheduled maintenance.
Prof J.N Khan, HoDSoil and water Engineering, CoAE&Twhile presenting vote of thanks, thanked guests and participants and highlighted that such training programmes are important for the overall skill development and improving employment opportunities of educated rural youth.
Dr ShowkatRasool Coordinator of the training programme conducted the proceedings of the function
