Week long training programme ‘Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Sericulture’ inaugurated at SKUAST COTS, Mirgund

SRINAGAR: A week Skill Training on “Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Sericulture-A Way Forward” was inaugurated Wednesday at Division of Sericulture Crop Improvement, College of Temperate Sericulture, Mirgund. The training was carried out Under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY), Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension(SMAE) of National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAET).
The programme is being carried under the patronage and leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof
Nazir Ahmad Ganai and direction passed by Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi
The Programme Co-coordinator welcomed the participants and briefed about the programme.
Dr. Malik explained the benefits of various entrepreneurial opportunities in the sericulture industry Viz. mulberry nurseries, supply of quality silkworm eggs, disinfection units, chawki rearing units, custom-hire service Centres, handicrafts etc. He further stated that Seri-Enterprises could serve as an excellent mode for employment generation and transformation of rural economy. Prof K.A. Sahaf, Head Division of Silk Product Sciences briefed the relevance of the programme keeping in view recent advances in the field of Sericulture. He thanked Prof. M.F. Baqual, Associate Dean, CoTS, Mirgund for supporting the programme whole heartedly, and wished the programme a grand success and desired that all the participants should take advantage of such programmes. Besides participants, scientists of the different Divisions of the College attended the inaugural session. At last, Dr. Mushtaq Rasool Mir,Head, Division of Basic Sciences & Humanities, COTS presented a vote of thanks.
