SRINAGAR: Women’s day was celebrated in NundReshi Auditorium at Sher–e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology today on 8thMarch, 2022 in which more than 300 delegates with a good percentage of females participated. The programme was chaired by Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmed Ganaie and Prof. Dil Mohmmad Makhdoomi Director Extension was the Guest of honour. Besides Director Research Prof. Sarfaraz A Wani, Registrar Prof. Tariq Masoodi and OSD Dr.AzmatAlam were also present in the occasion. Prof Nazir apprised the participants about the importance of day and explained the exigencies of the Modern Era that necessitates the celebration of the day. He sensitized the male audience to make a conducive environment for the women to live comfortably in home, work and in public places. Director Extension emphasized on the multi-tasking nature played by women from dawn to dusk in the capacity of mother, sister, wife and daughter since ages. He lauded the role of women in the capacity of Business women as the majority of the women in the participants were trainees to acquire licenses as fertilizer and pesticide dealers. The ladies were explained how they can play a role as educationists, extension workers, medical and nursing professionals , citing an example of one of the girl students of the SKUAST who is a pilot. He suggested some shortcuts to women participants as to how they can make families much happier and keep families together.
Earlier Dr. Farah NazRasool , Deputy Director Training addressed the house and welcomed the chief guest and all other participants. She explained the role of women in shaping the families and society and gave a detailed account of various developmental schemes launched by the Government for the benefit of the women and girls .A few more participants spoke on the occasion and the programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rusheeba Deputy Director SAMETI.
