FOB Srinagar organises ICOP on drug de-addiction, Ayushman Bharat

Srinagar: Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Srinagar today organised a Mini Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on drug de addiction, Poshan Mah and Ayushman Bharat. The one day long programme aimed at sensitising people, especially the youth was held at Government Polytechnic College, Srinagar.
Principal Polytechnic College, Srinagar Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah, speaking on the event stressed upon the importance of awareness programmes in dealing with the issue of drug abuse while Dr. Syed Sania from CMO office Srinagar said that the issue of drug abuse is a challenge before the country. “It is the duty of all stakeholders to join in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent this menace,” she added.
Dr. Aabid Ahmed from Police Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre appreciated the participants and FOB in organising the programme on drug de-addiction which he said will prove to be useful in the long run and appealed the participants to co-operate with police in identifying drug addicts in their localities so that they can be counselled in better ways.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director Press Information Bureau Srinagar, Ghulam Abbas stressed upon the civil society among religious preachers, teachers and students to come forward to highlight the causes and consequences of drug abuse.
Members of College also spoke on the occasion and highlighted their experiences in treating drug addicts. They gave a detailed speech on how to recognize a person is addicted to drugs, treatment and testing process. As part of pre-event activities, the winners of the quiz and drawing/painting competitions held Wednesday were felicitated with prizes and certificates at the conclusion of the event.
