JKEEGA Kashmir meets over re-employment of Engineers

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association [JKEEGA] Kashmir held an emergency Guidance council Meeting Monday under the august leadership of Er. Munshi Majid Ali, President JKEEGA amid other members.
The members were unanimous in expressing their unequivocal resentment towards allegedGovernment move to re-employ outgoing Engineers as Executive Directors JKPDD upon their superannuation.
It is relatable to mention here that Executive Director posts have been created courtesy unbundling and reorganisation of JKPDD into corporations and some of the posts were recently created after long drawn battle by the association with the establishment for the last two years, however such posts were created to be filled by the senior most Chief engineers strictly as per the seniority list rather than be used as rehabilitation posts for retiring outgoing engineers.
In this regard a letter was also written by President JKEEGA addressed to Principal Secy. JKPDD vide No: JKEEGA/J&K/P/2020-22/ 156-157, Dated: 14/01/2022 where in it was reiterated in clear terms that JKEEGA has a clear cut policy to oppose any move by the government to give extension to any Engineer in any capacity which hampers the promotion prospectus of other engineers, however it seems that government has not heeded to our plea. It was mentioned in the letter that engineering cadre has had to face career stagnation at every level considering only 10 odd percent of engineers reach upto the level of SE and above, in absence of much awaited and coveted Assured Career Progression in favour of Engineers which even got cabinet nod in the past, the issue of un-due extension in services of certain blue eyed officers is seen as gross injustice to the in-service engineers. Majority of the Graduate Engineers get promoted once/twice within a career span of more than 30 years and granting extension to retiring engineers on engineering posts will further deteriorate the promotion prospectus and add to miseries of the engineering community.
Every member of the Guidance council was of the opinion that such a move is disappointing, disparaging and demoralising for the entire fraternity,
As such through the medium of this resolution it is again brought to the notice of Government officers at the helm of affairs that extension/rehabilitation/re-recruitment of any official should not be done against the engineering cadre posts, rather all the vacant posts must be utilised for the promotion of deserving and in-service engineersfrom AE to CE level as hundreds of vacancies in-addition to the posts of ED are lying unfilled in the department which in-turn reduces the administrative efficiency through additional charge culture.
