Srinagar: Acting tough against the social crimes, Police in Sopore have arrested 04 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
Following an input about gambling activities in orchards at Sangrama, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Sopore raided the gambling site and arrested four gamblers. They have been identified as Mohd Ramzan Bhat son of Gh Mohd Bhat resident of Arampora Sopore, Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Subhan Bhat resident of Chinkipora Sopore, Feroz Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Maqbool Ganie resident of Hathishah Ningli and Nasrat Rasool Sofi son of Gh Rasool Sofi resident of Panjipora.
Officers have seized stake money of ?1,03,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 13/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and further investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
