Refresher courses mandatory for coaches to stay updated with latest techniques in sports: Alok Kumar

JAMMU: Orientation Courses are compulsory for keeping trainers, coaches and teachers to stay updated with latest skills and techniques of various games and sports.
This was revealed by Principal Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department Alok Kumar while e-launching training programme of field staff (PETs, PEMS, REKs) at the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, here on Thursday.
“For gaining wisdom and keeping updated with the latest know-how of various games in order to perform their jobs in a befitting manner, it is a must to involve the field staff of the Department of Youth Services and Sports in such courses, Kumar said.
“Such programmes are essential for helping trainers gain knowledge and wisdom, and advised the Directorate to make it an annual feature,” he added.

A total of 764 trainers drawn from 186 zones (4 from each zone) of the 20 districts of J&K are taking part in this month-long Refresher Course, who will be imparted training in the disciplines of Taekwondo, Sqay, Fencing, Archery and Hockey/Soft Tennis by a panel of experts mostly from the Department.
Earlier, Joint Director YSS (K), Bashir Ahmed presented a detailed report of the programme and highlighted achievements of the Department.
