EJAC cautions govt for bringing amendment in SRO-43

Srinagar: In a hurriedly called meeting under the leadership of its President Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam at the central office of Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu Kashmir (EJAC), the leaders expressed deep resentment and anguish on a statement circulating on some social media platforms under the caption, “No govt job under SRO 43 but one time compensation, says Div Com.”
The leaders said any such move shall be unacceptable to the employees of Jammu and Kashmir. Such measures shall be strongly resisted. This type of action speaks volumes about the malafide intentions of the government. The EJAC being the largest representative amalgam of the elected unions & Associations cannot remain as a mute spectator to such anti employee actions. SRO 43 is the only relief to the family of those employees who lose their lives while discharging their legitimate duties.Any attempt to debar the employees from the benefit of SRO 43 is sheer injustice and won’t be tolerated by any stretch of imagination. The EJAC considers such a move as anti-employee and against their larger interests.
While deliberating upon the issue the EJAC President Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam said that the government should not play with the sentiments of the employees. The employees are the backbone of the administration as such deserve a status compatible to their level.
The SRO in itself is named as Compassionate appointment rules so why an employee should be deprived of compassion when they are working in very hostile conditions. The EJAC President said that the government should act as a model employer and provide all the possible facilities to the working force so that they could deliver best services to the public.
Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam urged the government not to do any such thing which will compel the employees to come on roads.
The meeting was attended by all the prominent leaders.
