Forest Department Range Pampore organises mega plantation drive at Khonmoh

PAMPORE: As part of Green J&K drive, the forest department division Awantipora launched a massive plantation drive in Khonmoh area of forest division Awantipora.
The territorial staff of Model forest Range, Pampore successfully carried out a massive plantation drive under “Green Jammu and Kashmir” in the premises of government higher secondary School Khonmoh and Naib Tehsildar office Khonmoh. This amiable event was organised in collaboration with the volunteers of “Go Green Khonmoh”.
The program was inaugurated by Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Awantipora, Dr. Sheikh Mehraj-Ud-Din (SFS) and was attended by Principal Government higher secondary School Khonmoh Shabina Kyser, Range Officer Pampore Farooq Ahmed Mir, Environmental lawyer High Court of J&K Nadeem Qadri and BO JCR and Khrew Javed Ahmad Mir.
The other staff members of SC Range Pampore, government higher secondary school Khonmoh and Naib Tehsildar ‘s office also participated in the event, a forest officer told Kashmir Reader.
During the drive more than 100 saplings of conifer plants were planted in the premises of Government higher secondary School Khonmoh and Naib Tehsildar ‘s office.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Sheikh Mehraj, Divisional Forest Officer Awantipora, said the drive was organised with a purpose to enhance the green cover of the Khonmoh village and to create an eco-friendly environment. It will surely add to the aesthetic beauty of Khonmoh and will mitigate the air pollution ratio. He further stressed upon the role of plants in our routine life.
