Injured railway cop succumbs to injuries at SMHS

PAMPORE: A 28 year old government railway police personnel who was critically injured after he tried to save the life of an unsound person from getting hit by a train near Kakapora railway station on Wednesday , succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital, Srinagar on Friday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar (28), resident of Panzgam Awantipora, (belt number 126-GRPK), posted at railway station Kakapora, officials told Kashmir Reader.
He told Kashmir Reader that 36-year-old mantally unsound Mudasir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rasheed, resident of Wagoora Nowgam in Budgam district who got killed by a running train at Kakapora area of Pulwama district on Wednesday.
He said that government railway police personnel Shabir Ahmad posted at railway station Kakapora got critical injured while trying to save life of the mentally unsound person who was rooming in the danger zone near Kakapora railway station. Shabir Ahmad was immediately shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries after three days on Friday afternoon about 2: pm.
Shabir Ahmad was married last year, the lone bread-earner of his family and is survived by pregnant wife, father, mother, two sisters and 5 brothers, the officer said.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held at Railway police headquarter Nowgam Srinagar to pay homage to the slain GRP personnel.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members for last rites.

Meanwhile, there was a pall of gloom in Panzgam village of Pulwama when the body of the slain GRP personnel reached his native village.
Government Railway police officials and a number of locals participated in his funeral prayers.
