Plantation drive held

PAMPORE: A plantation drive was held at Tehsil office Pampore by Forest department Range Pampore after Republic Day celebration at Saffron Town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din was the chief guest on the occasion.
Forest department officials told Kashmir Reader that the tree plantation drive was held soon after the flag hoist at Tehsil office Pampore.
Tehsil Official Mir Murwat Hussian, Forest department official Ilyas Rasool Wani, block forester Pampore Javaid Ahmad Sheikh, block forester Khrew Javaid Ahmad Mir and number of forest employees of Forest Model Range Pampore, besides other revenue department employees Pampore also participated in the drive.
During the plantation drive,
Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din and forest department officials planted a number of trees in presence of Tehsil office Pampore. They marked the saplings with their name plates, officials said.
The chief guest spoke on the importance of trees in sustaining life on the earth. They highlighted the role of trees.
He highlighted the importance of plantation in everyday life.
He requested the locals of Pampore Tehsil to plant at least one sapling during the winter season and contribute to saving the forests of Jammu and Kashmir and Green J&K drive.
