Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances and illicit liquor from their possession.
On a specific input, a Police Party from Police Station Qazigund conducted a raid at specific location in village Check Badwani Qazigund. During checking, officers were able to recover 2Kgs of Poppy Straw and 45 bottles of illicit liquor from the residential house and arrested two persons identified as Nisar Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohmad Mir resident of Telwani Anantnag AP Badwani Qazigund and Mohamad Yaseen Malik son of Gh Ahmad Malik resident of Chek Badwani Qazigund. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 12/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation is in progress.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and persons found involved in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
