Woman dies after caught in fire in Srinagar’s downtown

Three residential houses gutted in fire in Jamalatta

Srinagar: A 56-year-old-aged woman died of burn injuries at SMHS Hospital after being caught in fire in Srinagar.
An official of disaster management said that a woman named Shakeela, 56, wife of Ghulam Mohammad received burn injuries after fire broke out in a residential house at Rehab Sahib neighborhood in Jamalata.
“The fire engulfed three residential houses. Fire was finally brought under control by Fire & Emergency Services,” the official said.
Official sources said that fire erupted in one of the houses at the congested locality and apparently there was some gas cylinder blast. Subsequently, they said, the fire spread to other houses and caused extensive damage to all four structures and partial damage to three others before the fire was controlled.
