Dr. Kamlesh Meena said, we are pleased to announce that Indira Gandhi National Open University has taken appreciative initiatives by launching new programmes, under different schools. The School of Extension and Development Studies (SOEDS), IGNOU has launched Master of Arts Corporate Social Responsibility (MACSR) programme from January 2022 session onwards. This programme has been launched by the scaling up of the PGDCSR programme that has already been launched in the January 2021 session. The existing PGDCSR LSCs have been activated as MACSR in the online admission portal. The MACSR is meant for CSR professionals across India and for graduates / post-graduates interested in pursuing a career as a CSR Professional. If you are looking for an opportunity to build a career in CSR, you need to first build your capacity as a CSR professional. With the enactment of Companies Act, 2013 by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, GoI, India became the first country in the world to make CSR mandatory for select categories of companies mandated under the Act. This legislation has created an important opportunity to mobilise resources and build mechanisms to promote inclusive development in the country. Considering this increasing demand for CSR professionals, IGNOU has stepped in to bridge this gap in the demand for trained CSR professionals by launching a Master of Arts Corporate Social Responsibility (MACSR).
The Objectives of the programmes are, to impart knowledge and understanding about CSR through Open and Distance Learning, to expand the capacity of learners on various theoretical and practical aspects of CSR and development work, to develop professional knowledge in formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of CSR projects and programmes, and to equip the learners with the needed skills in corporate ethics, governance and conflict resolution.
The School of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies, IGNOU has launched MA in Environmental and Occupational Health (ODL) mode and Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental and Occupational Health (Online mode).
The course equips students with following objectives to develop an expert manpower to handle the complex industrial environment, to give knowledge about occupational health, industrial hygiene, accidental prevention techniques to the students, to make the student aware about safety auditing and management systems, pollution prevention techniques etc. To train the students about environmental and safety risk assessment and management, to train the students about environmental policy, industrial safety and occupational health regulation, to train the students about environmental and safety standards and certification such as ISO certification, environmental trading and green innovation, etc.
The School of Management, IGNOU has launched MBA earlier in offline mode, now is available in online mode also. Admission for MBA is now without OPENMAT test which was a prerequisite for seeking admission in MBA Programme.

Eligibility for admission: The learners should have Bachelors Degree in any discipline. They should have access to computers, Internet and basic knowledge of MS Word (for creating word documents and communicating through the Internet for sending and receiving mails, browsing sites etc.). MA (Journalism & Mass Communication) programme provides a comprehensive exposure to various aspects related to Journalism and Mass Communication to equip you with necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies. The programme aims to develop skilled human resources in media and communication with a holistic appreciation of media as a tool for change and development. The programme will help you to build competencies and develop professional skills to avail employment opportunities in various media sectors. It will provide opportunities to those who are working in media organisations without appropriate formal training to upgrade their knowledge and competencies. The media have grown exponentially during the past few decades. The press is flourishing in terms of circulation and readership in a variety of languages. Radio has shown considerable resurgence and the expansion of television in the recent past is unrivalled. While Public Relations and advertising continue to thrive, the Internet and digital media have taken great strides facilitating easier and faster information dissemination. The spread of literacy and the advent of information technology have given greater thrust to the rapid growth of media. These areas of journalism and mass communication have manifest as well as latent needs for trained human resources. To cater to these needs, there is a strong need to offer MA (Journalism & Mass Communication) with a blend of theory and practice. The programme aims to address the needs of trained human resources in the expanding media and fill the gaps in the areas of higher learning and research by reaching out to widely dispersed groups. IGNOU with its vast network of regional centres and study centres and the strength of developing exhaustive learning materials is uniquely placed to bridge this gap and provide practical training through collaborative arrangements with partner institutions.
