Animal Husbandry Department Jammu organises series of Farmers’ awareness Camps

JAMMU: To educate farmers about departmental schemes and programmes, the Animal Husbandry department organised a series of awareness Camps here at Pakhian and Gadkhal villages of district Jammu.
The camps were organized by the team of Extension and Publicity Wing of the department in cooperation with the local PRI members and other prominent persons to generate mass awareness about the departmental schemes in the interiors of the rural areas.
Application forms to apply for different departmental schemes viz Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Programme, Feed and Fodder Development Scheme etc were also provided on spot to the farmers present
Speaking at village Pakhian, the Extension Officer Dr. Vinay Kumar said that the Animal Husbandry Department is working on a mission mode to promote the dairy on scientific lines. He further said that the department has launched a string of schemes aimed at increasing the milk production in the region. He said for availing maximum benefits the farmers need to have a clear understanding of these schemes and that’s why these awareness camps are being organized.
At Gadkhal awareness camp, the Extension Officer stressed upon the rural youth including women to come forward and establish new dairy and poultry units and avail a subsidy up to 50 percent under the departmental schemes and set an example for others to follow by becoming employment providers.
