Srinagar: Research and Training Centre for Pollinators, Pollinizers and Pollination Management(RTCPPPM), SKUAST-K, Shalimar organised two number of 7-days training programme on “Scientific Beekeeping” under NBHM sponsored project entitled “Trainings on Scientific Beekeeping for Unemployed Youth/Beekeepers of District Baramulla&Kupwara” funded by National Bee Board (NBB), MoA&FW, Government of India.
Prof. Sarfaraz Ahmad Wani (Director Research) Chief Guestat the Inaugural function highlighted the importance of the programme and impressed upon the the participants to take full advantage of this training. Prof. Arshad Mughal (Associate Director Research) elaborated the opportunities in the beekeeping sector for employment generation and economic upliftment.
Prof. M. A. Paray, while presenting the welcome address, stressed upon the importance of honey bees in honey production and other bee hive products and their role in pollination agricultural/ horticultural crops. Prof. G.M.Lone(Head, Division of Entomology)presented vote of Thanks and also stressed upon the the need of Scientific beekeeping for increasing the production of honey and other beehive products.
