Srinagar: Directorate of Health Services Kashmir on Sunday celebrated World Diabetes Day across Kashmir hospitals during which stress was laid on maintaining healthy lifestyle.
A spokesperson of DHSK said that the day was observed across hospitals and special programs were held in order to aware public how to fight diabetes.
In his message Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather stressed on the need to make diabetes care accessible to all the people across Kashmir valley and emphasized people to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
He said this day is celebrated worldwide to raise awareness of this chronic, debilitating and costly disease among children, adults, health care professionals and decision-makers.
“The burden of diabetes which had shown every increasing trend since last few decades was required to be dealt with in accordance with the set guidelines issued by the WHO from time and time including the adoption of healthy lifestyle,” he said.
On the occasion, special programs, awareness programs, educational programs and special clinics were held for patients across Kashmir hospitals wherein stress was laid to aware patients, hospital staff and doctors about diabetes and its complications.
The theme of the World Diabetes Day 2021-23 is access to diabetes care. In this regard, a pledge was taken that the department will try to make diabetes care accessible to the people.
It is pertinent to mention here that DHSK has been conducting free screening camps and disseminating knowledge regarding its prevention and treatment across Kashmir division over the past several years.
