Pampore MC launches special sanitation drive for Fashkoor wetland, lanes drains

PAMPORE: Municipal Committee Pampore launches a special sanitation drive for Fashkoor wetland at Namblabal area of the saffron town in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
The special drive was organised by the Municipal Committee Pampore under the chairmanship of executive officer Mohammad Iqbal.
The special sanitation drive was launched to remove solid waste from the Fashkoor wetland and other drains and lanes that fall into it.
Nadeem Qadri Environmental Lawyer High Court volunteers of Eco Watch, Go Green Pampore and wildlife team were also part of the drive.
Municipal Committee Pampore team comprising Secretary, Sanitation Officer, Sanitary Inspector/Sanitary Supervisor and dozens staffers participated in the drive.
A rally was carried out from ITI college Tulbagh Pampore during which the drive team removed garbage from different points from the wetland, MC Pampore officials told Kashmir Reader.
Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Pampore, Mohammed Iqbal told Kashmir Reader that the drive was launched as per directions of National green Tribunal. ” The drive was launched in collaboration with Echo Watch, Go Green Pampore headed by Nadeem Qadri – Environmental Lawyer
High Court , the aim was to raise awareness among masses on the need for preservation of the wetland,” he said, adding that the drive will continue in future.
He said that announcements were made asking people not to throw polythene, waste and other excreta into the water body.
