College of temperate sericulture launches developmental project

SRINAGAR: College of Temperate Sericulture, Mirgund launched Developmental Project under the title” Sericulture: Livelihood Security and Employment Generation in Tribal Areas of Kashmir” funded by DST Kashmir Govt. of J&K. In this context, 1st consignment comprising of 3000 mulberry plants was flagged off to tribal area of Gurez by Director Research SKUAST-K Prof. Sarfaraz Ahmad, Mr. Bilal Ahmed (Joint Director, DST-Kashmir), Prof. M. F. Baqual (Assoc. Dean), Addl. Director Sericulture (Mr. Abdul Khaliq Dar) and Deputy Director of SDD (Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Sofi) of target District. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Sarfaraz impressed upon the scientists that more & more collaborative work in the shape of projects be undertaken.
Bilal Ahmad (Joint Director DST) gave a detailed account of various schemes of DST which are for the benefit of scientists and student community.
Prof. M. F. Baqual while thanking DST, requested all the scientists to come up with fruitfull project proposals which are of direct benefit to the farming community. He also requested DST for more and more funding of the meaningfull projects. Earlier Dr. K. A. Dar, PI of the project briefed the participants about the aims and objectives of the project. The Heads of various divisions / scientists and students also participated in the deliberations.
