Departmental farms to modernize on global parameters: Dir Agri

Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited Seed Multiplication Farm Allowpora Shopian. He inspected different blocks of the farm and took stock of different activities aimed changing weather conditions.
While speaking to the staff and technical experts of Allowpora Farm Director Agriculture said that Department from last one year has started an initiative and is endeavouring to optimize the utility of Departmental farms to attain self reliance in the field of seed requirement for Kashmir Division. We have already fixed bench marks and targets for every departmental farm in the valley so far as the production is concerned and after visiting different farms during the recent times we are satisfied and optimistic that we could achieve those targets in an effective manner, he added.
Director Agriculture said that under the supervision and guidance of Principal Secretary AP&FWD Navin Kumar Chowdhary, Department is executing a plan to transform all the departmental farms into the revenue earning and employment generating assets for the Department. He said the Department is working on Principal Secretary’s vision of modernizing these farms on global parameters.
Director Agriculture appreciated the efforts of the concerned and technical experts of Allowpora Farm and asked them to work with close coordination so that this Farm could achieve new heights in the years to come.
