KVK Ganderbal reaches Tribal Village Waliwar

SRINAGAR: KVK Ganderbal in collaboration with Division of LPM FVSc&AH SKUAST-K conducted poultry distribution programme under ICAR- poultry seed project at waliwar lar where 350 birds of elite vanaraja strains were distributed among the tribal farmers.
The event was chaired by Prof Dil Mohmmad Makhdoomi, Director Extension SKUAST-K, besides Prof. Azmat Alam, Associate Director Research PI of the Project, Dr Javid A. Bhat Senior Scientist& Head KVK Ganderbal and other scientists of the Kendra were present on the occasion .Prof Makhdoomi said it is mandatory duty of KVK to put in efforts for reaching out to the tribal farmers and working for their socio economic upliftment. He appreciated the efforts of Zaitoona Begum, Progresive farm women for working for the upliftment of the women in the area by providing the efficient leadership and helping hand. Prof Makhdoomi thanked the mentorship and guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. JP Sharma,he appraised the participants about the role of backyard poultry for upliftment of farm women and doubling farmers income.
Prof Azmat briefed the farmers about the TSP scheme and gave important instruction regarding scientific rearing of backyard poultry
Dr Javid Ahmad Bhat Senior Scientist & Head welcomed the guest in the Inaugural session and briefed the farmers about the activities carried out by the KVK in the District for the welfare of farming community.
