Workshop on building entrepreneurial competencies held at SKUAST-K

Srinagar: SK University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir held a three-day online workshop on ‘Building Entrepreneurial Competencies’ for the varsity students.
The workshop was organised by the School of Agricultural Economics and Horti-Business Management in collaboration with the World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional development of SKUAST-K.
Director Planning and Monitoring and PI NAHEP Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who was the chief guest at the occasion, highlighted the SKUAST-K success achieved in terms of the creation of startups by the university students. Prof Nazir also emphasized the need for enhancing entrepreneurial motivation among the students, especially in the field of agriculture and horticulture. He advocated for infusing entrepreneurial capabilities among the students by building their thinking and analytical skills.
Dean Faculty of Horticulture Prof SA Wani, while addressing participants of the workshop, described the economic potential of the horticulture sector in Kashmir, especially in the apple industry. He also sensitised participants about the scope of entrepreneurial opportunities available in the horticulture sector like pollination services, spraying services, orchard establishment services, etc.
While welcoming the dignitaries of the workshop, Dr FA Shaheen, Head, School of Agricultural Economics and Horti-Business Management, stressed the need for an outcome-based education that leads to the establishment of business ventures and thus provides for economic profit and employment generation.
