SMC Commissioner for sterilisation of stray dogs in Sgr

SRINAGAR: Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan on Wednesday called upon officials to expedite work on projects needed for control of dog population given the public health importance of such facilities.
Amir who visited SMC’s Veterinary Services complex Tengpora took stock of various projects coming up at Allochi Bagh and Tengpora including the Animal Birth Control and Anti Rabies for sterilization of dogs and establishment of modern abattoir.
A detailed review of both the projects was taken and directions were passed to JKPCC to expedite the works on the project urgently keeping in view the dire need and public health importance of the project.
He directed the works wing of SMC to expedite the works for ABC AR project on sterilisation of stray dogs
He was accompanied by Municipal Veterinary Officer Dr Javaid Ahmed Rather and Joint Commissioner works and other officers of JKPCC. With establishment of ABC AR facility the number of sterilizations per day shall be enhanced to achieve a time bound progress.
The commissioner was informed that three more ABC-AR centres are being added up to achieve 240 sterilization surgeries that will help a stable population in a time bound manner.
