Urdu play Jheel Bula Rahi Hai’ staged at SKICC

Srinagar: In connection with the Iconic Week, Actors’ Creative Theatre (ACT), a ‘not for profit’ organization in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and J&K Government’s Mission Youth presented a Urdu play ‘Jheel Bula Rahi Hai’ at Sher-I-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) here on Friday evening.
Written by late Ali Mohammad Lone, the play has been directed by Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan.
The cast includes Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan (Father), Chowdhary Rabiya Shafiq (Mother), ZubairFarooq (Son), Zenobia Syed (Daughter) and TahirNajar (Son-in-Law). The back stage team included GulJavaid, Abdul Ahad, BasharatHussain, Faisal Chaku, Idrees Bukhtiyar, Mir MajaazandMudasir Khan.
The story revolves around the family of a fisherman whose two sons have already been taken away by the storms of the Wularlake. In the conclusion of the play, the third son also gets drowned in the lake, while trying to save the lives of the fellow fishermen of his village from the storm of the lake.
Away from the chill, art lovers had gathered at SKICC and witnessed the enthralling performance by the artists and applauded them for their performance.
The director of the play Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said that the aim of holding this play is to keep alive the theatre activity in the valley. “We have also tried to show the culture and tradition of Kashmir through this play which has been lost somewhere,” he said.
The stage show started with playing of Surnai, followed by traditional Dambali(Kashmiri folk dance). A short duration Bhand e Paether was also performed on the stage.
