Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K inaugurates seven day STRAY training programme

SRINAGAR: Vice-Chancellor, Prof. J.P.Sharma inaugurated a seven day STRAY programme in Directorate of Extension for the farmers of Ladakh Union Territory. The farmers who were on a one day exposure visit to SKUAST-Kashmir and due to inclement weather a team of 54 farmers and farming women were held up due to closure of Srinagar – Leh highway. The Vice-Chancellor has kindly acceded to the request of the farmers from Ladakh and gave on spot approval to Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi for organizing a seven day STRAY training programme.
In his inaugural address Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor explained to the farmers how they can harness the advantage of organic farming production of mushroom and honey. He praised the role of farmers for displaying the agricultural produce in the recent exhibition at Nubra during his visit. He stressed them to visit Saffron Station Food Science and Technology, Konibal Pampore to become familiar with the activities of the Station and assured them they are the guests of the University till the road reopens.
Prof. Makhdoomi who made an on spot programme of seven days duration with the Prof. & Head Vegetable Sciences and Dr. Farha Naz Deputy Director Trainings for arranging lectures , practicals and field visit for stranded farmers and farming women who expressed happiness for this goodwill gesture and generosity of Prof. J.P.Sharma, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir for arranging seven days STRAY training programme for the farmers of Ladakh.
