SKUAST holds 41st of Academic Council meeting

Srinagar: The 41st meeting of Academic Council of SKUAST-Kashmir was conducted on 18.10.2021 at Shalimar Campus, Srinagar under the chairmanship of Prof.J.P.Sharma, Vice-Chancellor.
The meeting was conducted in hybrid mode and was attended by Director Education, Director Research, Director Extension, Director Planning, Dean Students Welfare, Controller of Examinations, Deans of the Subject Matter Faculties, Associate Deans of the Colleges, Heads of Divisions/Stations/Units/Heads of KVKs. In addition, the meeting was also attended by the Scientist representatives / nominees from other Universities.
Prof. Gul Zaffar, Registrar SKUAST-K and Ex-officio member Academic Council Meeting presented the Agenda before the Council. The main features of the Agenda were adoption of Broad Subject Matter Committees in Agriculture (BSMA) recommendations communicated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for adherence by all the SAUs at national level with regard to restructuring and revising the nomenclature of the Masters and PhD degree programmes and regulations thereof, so as to have uniformity in the award of degree/s. Vice-Chancellor urged that Deans of the Subject Matter Faculties to ensure that the student completes his/her degree programme in a time bound manner. He emphasised that there is a requirement at University level to prepare work plan with regard to different MoUs entered into by the University with number of Institutions/ Organisations, so as to make it purpose oriented programme. He urged the Directors and Deans to ensure timely implementation of National Education Policy-2020 in the University.
He further asked for identification of certain areas in research, extension and academics for collaborative endeavours with other universities/institutions. He was appreciative of the active participation of the Members in the deliberations of the Academic Council and their concern/involvement in the decision making. At the end the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor lauded the enthusiastic participation of SKUAST-K scientists/teachers in 5 Days Kissan Mela held recently in SKUASAT-Jammu.
