Anjuman, Mirwaiz greet Muslims on Rabi-ul-Awwal

Demand opening of Jama Masjid, Dargah Hazratbal other major places of worship

Srinagar: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar on. behalf of its incarcerated President Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has extended heartfelt felicitations to the Muslims on the arrival of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the holy month in which the last saviour of humanity – Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born.
The Anjuman in a statement said the arrival of the merciful Prophet (SAW) enlightened the humanity.
Even at the beginning of this blessed month, Kashmir’s largest place of worship – the Central Jama Masjid Srinagar, Dargah Hazratbal and other major religious places continue to be closed on the directions of rulers due to which neither Muslims are able to perform such an important duty as Friday prayers nor is the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, who continues to be under house arrest for the last 26 months, allowed to fulfill his religious obligations and responsibilities the Institution of Mirwaiz enjoins upon him, the Anjuman said.
Strongly protesting against this dictatorial attitude of the rulers, the Anjuman said such actions not only hurt the sentiments of the Kashmiri people but also amount to sheer interference in the religious affairs of Muslims, which is unacceptable.
The Anjuman said that in view of the arrival of the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the rulers should remove the undue restrictions imposed on all religious places, including the Jama Masjid Srinagar, Dargah Hazratbal so that the people, while keeping in view the Covid SOPs, are able to worship according to their religious beliefs.
