Scientist from MP visit SKUAST faculty of Agriculture to monitor soybean farming

SRINAGAR: A team of Scientists from All India Coordinated Research Project on Soybean, Indore, M.P. visited Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST Kashmir, Wadura to monitor the collaborative research Trials on Soybean.
The visiting team was welcomed by Prof. A H Hakeem, Dean FoA, Wadura. While interacting with the team he laid emphasis on the development of new varieties in soybean and subsequent measures for the adoption by the farming community.
Prof M Ashraf Bhat, PI of the project emphasized the sharing of photo-insensitive germplasm amongst various national centers for the development of early maturing and disease resistant varieties that can suit cultivation under temperate conditions of the valley. Prof F A Sheikh, Head, GPB laid emphasis for active collaboration and financial support between the collaborative Centres.
While interacting with the scientists, Prof S Gupta, IISR, Indore laid emphasis for the identification of entrepreneurs who can serve as a bridge for the dissemination of technology and selling of by-products of soybean. Prof M P Sharma, IISR, Indore shared his vast experience on plant-microbe interaction, while interacting during the visit to Organic Farming Centre. The visiting team praised the efforts of the scientists in co-ordinating the Soybean research programme at the national level and developing one extra early genotype. While interacting with the students, the team hailed the energetic efforts of the students in publishing their research
