CUK’s National Science Urdu Congress concludes

Srinagar: The two days “National Urdu Science Congress-2021,” organized by the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in association with Vigyan Prasar, at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir concluded here on Thursday.

Hundreds of delegates and eminent experts from Jammu and Kashmir, and other parts of the country attended valedictory function of the Congress, organized under the theme “Science Communication, Popularization and Its Extension (Scope) In Urdu: The Road Ahead.”

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said, “By imparting science education and giving knowledge back to the society is responsibility of all the educated people and the intellectual class. They might not get monetary benefits in it, but the work is satisfying,” he said while stressing on the need for spread of scientific temper among all classes of society

In his valedictory address, Pro Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, Prof. Syed Iqbal Hasnain, stressed on the local initiatives to fight for the challenges thrown by the climate change. “The climate change has become a huge problem and if not tackled immediately, it can extensively damage the earth’s atmosphere causing natural disasters,” he said. He further appreciated the CUK for holding the Science Congress and called for organizing more such Science related programmes in future.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Vigyan Prasar, Dr Nakul Prshad said that next week they will give the idea of including Kashmiri language in the spread of science knowledge. “We will support such initiatives in future as well. You will be happy to know that we are including Kashmiri language which would be used to make scientific literature available to people in far flung areas of Kashmir,” he said

Addressing the participants, former VC MANUU, Prof. Aslam Pervez, said the language should not be the barrier when it comes to the dissemination of knowledge in Science.

Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Ramshoo, in his address, said the scientific knowledge and temperament needs to be inculcated among the children from an early age so that they develop liking for the subject. “Schools are the best place to make the children fully aware about Science and its benefits,” he said.

Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, while welcoming the delegates on the second day of the function said that the university was pleased to see the enthusiastic participation of the people in the initiative. “Language is important in the lives of people. It connects us with people to share knowledge. Mother tongue is the first language that everyone learns at home. To impart education among people in their own language is the need of the hour,” he said.

Dean School of Media Studies and Organising Secretary, Prof. (Dr.) Shahid Rasool proposed the vote of thanks and expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the Congress. He thanked the senior functionaries of the University of Kashmir in their support for the Congress.
