Dir Agriculture Kashmir visits Srinagar areas

Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited New Theed and other areas of district Srinagar. During the visit Director Agriculture met some progressive vegetable growers. He also took stock of Paddy harvesting amid recent rains in the area and also participated in some of the harvesting operations.
Talking to some of the farmers, Director Agriculture reiterated Department’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of farming community. Having interaction with a progressive farmer who has cultivated only Tomato crop in his 5 kanal land, Director Agriculture said that Department is there to provide all the technical guidance and whatever hand holding is needed. The Department in collaboration with JKHPMC is offering a multi layer marketing channel to the farmers so that they could sell their produce in and outside of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, in a more effective and profitable manner, he said, and added.
Iqbal said that the Department under Farm Mechanization Program is planning to provide Paddy Thrashers to all the districts from next year so that the cost of the thrashing could be minimized. He appreciated the Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar and his team for their efforts and interventions in said areas and asked them to continuously work in close coordination and friendly atmosphere with the farmers so that the agriculture sector could touch new heights and the socio economic transformation of farming community could be achieved.
Meanwhile Director Agriculture chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the status of PM-Kisan Scheme in some of the identified areas of district Srinagar and district Ganderbal. He directed the concerned officers to ensure that every deserving individual is getting benefited out of PM Kisan scheme.
Director was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer, Srinagar Mohammad Younis Chowdhary and other senior officers of the Department.
